The Home Stretch

Here I am at 36.5 weeks....Could I get any bigger???

Now that Christmas has come and gone the pressure has really begun to get everything ready for Lucas. My doctor appts. are more frequent (once a week) and along with my growing belly come a lot of discomfort. It was wonderful to see everyone this Christmas, especially my Great Uncle who was in from Australia. Ralph and I spent Christmas day with the Carrions, Curt, Sue, Nikki, Dave and Ashley. It was a lot of fun to wake up at "home" again with my sisters and parents. We ate a lot, opened presents, cat napped throughout the day and ended it with a great dinner! The night did end on a sad note. My Dad's uncle had passed away that evening. A little shocking to me since I didn't expect it. I guess there are reasons why things happen when they do. Grandma and Grandpa bought way too much for Lucas, but it was great to get those last minute things that we needed for him. Burp clothes, toys, clothes and the car seat cover.

I had to laugh after I read my cousin Amy's blog about not being able to see her feet. I don't think I know what my feet look like anymore. Big is for sure! They are starting to swell pretty bad by the end of the day or if I've been on my feet all day. Fred Flinstone has nothing on my feet!

I end my evening with a foot massage from Ralph and a bag of ice on my feet. Lucas has dropped in the last few days so finally breathing is a little easier but now the pressure is put on my bladder...3 bathroom breaks an hour it seems like!!! I live in the bathroom these days.

As much discomfort as I'm feeling and as many issues that I've had with the pregnancy Ralph and I are very ready to be parents. We got the chance to hang out with Ralph's cousin's newborn daughter on Christmas Eve and it gave us a brief glimpse into the very near future. Can't wait for Lucas!

  1. I can't believe how close you are! It's so exciting. Love the pic of you with the baby blanket. I haven't had the swelling of the feet yet but I am sure its coming. Oh the joys...haha.
